Qantas ultimately turned to Airbus and picked the A350. ![]() Once again, Boeing pushed heavily for Qantas to run with the 777X on its Project Sunrise routes. It’s also proved a bit of a problem child for Boeing. Qantas' carbon offset program is among the airline world's better performing and is a straightforward way to reduce its environmental impact in the short term. The Boeing 777X is the offspring of the original 777 models. "We are keeping an eye on the long-term goal, including our commitment to net zero carbon by 2050 and developing a viable, sustainable aviation fuel sector," said Alan Joyce at a recent investor's briefing.
